Health Services

The Municipality has a Government Hospital at Enchi, 7 Health Centres at Dadieso, Sewum, Boinso, Yiwabra, Achimfo, Acquai-Allah and Akontombra Nkwanta. Health care is greatly complemented by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana which has a Maternity Home at Enchi and Primary Health Care facilities at Amonie and Papueso. The facilities are managed by qualified staff. There are also clinics and maternity homes owned by private individuals.

The health facilities in the Municipality are fairly distributed to enable the Municipality to meet the health needs of the people. The Government Hospital at Enchi, serves as a referral centre for the public health centres and the private clinics.

The Hospital has two doctors; one in charge of Administration, District Director of Health Service, the other is the Medical Superintendent in charge of Clinical Services. There are also thirty-two (32) nurses, 50 paramedical staff and sixty-nine beds and cots. The Enchi Government Hospital has an x-ray, Laboratory, Theatre facilities, which are fully equipped and managed by qualified officers. There is also a Mortuary with a Morgue.

The Boinso and Sewum Health Centres have benefited from modern structures provided by the Assembly and Saudi Government with funds from the HIPC Relief and Saudi Development Fund respectively to enable them meet the current demands of health care services.

The health centres are also managed by efficient health workers namely medical Assistants, Midwives, Community Health Nurses and Orderlies. The Assembly has supported the training of health workers such as State Registered Nurses, Community Health Nurses and Health Aides to ensure that all the health facilities have qualified health workers to provide health services to the people.

The Aowin Municipal is also ready to begin the operation of the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme. The aim is to ensure access to affordable and quality health care by the populace. All preparatory work on the programme has been completed for takeoff.
