Aowin Assembly trains 30 farmers on bee keeping
The Business Advisory Centre (BAC) under the Rural Enterprises Project in the Aowin Municipal Assembly has begun a 4 day training for over 30 farmers on bee keeping in Adonikrom; one of the communities in the Aowin Municipality.

BAC organized the training to respond to its core mandate of training and building capacity of artisans, farmers and individuals to equip them with skills that make them self-employable.
Addressing participants at the training session, the Municipal Chief Executive for Aowin, Mr. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi said the government led by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s aim is to improve upon livelihood of farmers. It was upon this that BAC has been training farmers on soap making, tie and dye, bread baking, leather works, beads work and now on bee keeping.
The MCE has advised the participants most of whom are into cocoa farming to give way to COCOBOD staff to cut down their old cocoa trees for replanting since government would supply high breed seedlings and plantain suckers to them free of charge.
This initiative by government would enable Ghana to become the number one producer of cocoa in the few years to come. Let us all support the government to fight a good course for the benefit of all and generations yet unborn; the MCE added.
Mr. Adu-Gyamfi said government has education as one of its priorities and started extending the free education policy gradually to tertiary institutions.
The National Chairman for Beekeepers Association and the resource person for the training, Mr. Patrick Adu Newman said, at the end of the 4 days training session, the participants will be taken through the following; hive management, sitting of hive, colorization, choosing the site, bee biology, benefit, history of bee keeping, equipment, harvesting of bee, records keeping, pests and disease control of bee,
meeting and practical.
Mr. Newman encouraged the participants to take the training seriously so that they can get the ground running after the 4 day training session.
The leader of bee keepers association of Adonikrom, Mr. Emmanuel Fofoe was very grateful to the MCE and the government for extending this training exercise to the Adonikrom community.
