Political Administration

The District is divided into twelve (12) area Councils and further sub-divided into 53 electoral Areas. The Electoral Areas have One hundred and Fifty three (153) Unit Committees.

The Assembly has 76 Assembly members made up of 53 elected and 23 appointed members. It has two (2) Constituencies namely Manso Nkwanta and Edubia Constituencies. The Two (2) Members of Parliament are ex-officio Members of the Assembly.

The Assembly has five Sub committees including Justice and Security, Development planning, Finance and Administration, Social Services and Works and Education. At the District Administration level, there are ten (10) decentralized departments Figure 1.1 is the political Map of the Amansie West District on area council basis.
