The fund, which is expected to benefit 100 students in its first phase, is specifically designed to assist needy learners in accessing quality education while contributing to the holistic development of the district.

Launching the initiative at Sang, Alhaji Mahama made it clear: this is not just about scholarships. It is about securing a brighter future for every child in the constituency.

A Track Record of Action

The MP did not come empty-handed with promises. He came with receipts. Alhaji Mahama recounted a series of impactful interventions he has already delivered in the education sector, including:

• Securing GETFund support for 25 students
• Lobbying for Ghana Local Scholarships for beneficiaries in the district
• Supporting the Jilma community to construct a self-help school
• Assisting the Kulinkpegu and Mbatinga communities to build teachers' quarters
• Providing GH¢10,000 to Sang Senior High School (SHS) for its inter-houses competition
• Supporting Sang SHS with GH¢5,000 to transport examination materials from Yendi

 The 2025 Vision: Bigger, Better, Bolder

Looking ahead, Alhaji Mahama outlined an ambitious slate of projects scheduled to commence in 2025, each one aimed at closing the infrastructure and resource gaps that have long plagued schools in the constituency.

At Sang Community Day SHS, plans are in motion to:

• Expand the ICT laboratory
• Provide a bus and a pickup vehicle
• Work towards upgrading the school into a boarding institution
  

The MP also revealed that efforts are underway to recruit teachers from within the district to address staffing shortages and minimize transfers outside the constituency.

• Donation of a hand-pump borehole to Sang SHS
• Construction of a three-unit classroom block at Tinsung
• Completion of an abandoned six-unit GETFund classroom block at Tambabu
• Renovation of a six-unit classroom block at Dombini
• Construction of a Kindergarten block at Kayong
• A six-unit classroom block and teachers' bungalow at Kayang
