Date Created : 2/23/2026 : Story Author : Kingsley Mamore/Ghanadistricts.com
His call follows the commissioning of a new ultra-modern centre by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority in Jasikan to improve vehicle registration and driver licensing services in the region.
The Minister noted that with the facility now operational, riders have no justification for non-compliance, advising them to regularise their documents to avoid clashes with law enforcement officers.
Nana Obeng Offori Appew VI, Benkumhene of the Buem Traditional Area and Chief of Guaman, commended Mr. Yaw Osei, a native of the area, for helping realise a long-standing dream. He described the facility as a clear sign of development reaching Guaman, bringing renewed hope and economic prospects.
Nana Appew VI lauded the vision behind the project and pledged his full support to ensure its smooth operation within a peaceful environment. He added that the initiative symbolises hope, self-reliance, and community pride, with the potential to transform lives and boost the local economy.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, emphasised that the new facility reflects the Authority’s commitment to the “Reset Agenda” championed by President John Dramani Mahama.
He explained that the centre is equipped with modern technology integrated into the DVLA’s digital systems to deliver faster, more efficient and convenient services.
According to him, the Oti office will offer a full range of services, including new driver licensing, licence upgrades, renewals, replacements, and vehicle registration.
Mr. Kotey stressed that road safety remains a top priority, noting that all drivers must be properly trained, tested, and certified, while vehicles must be duly registered and approved before being allowed on the road.
The project was executed through a Public-Private Partnership between the DVLA and Mr. Yaw Osei, Director of Tacos JP Limited.
