The festival, which brought together over 1,000 participants from 15 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), as well as local artists, cultural enthusiasts, and foreign visitors, was a platform for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Greater Accra region.

The event featured a variety of activities, including art exhibitions, traditional performances, and interactive workshops. One of the key highlights was a cultural dance competition, in which the AMA's Adesa Taloi Cultural Troupe emerged as the overall winner.

This victory qualifies the AMA to represent the Greater Accra Region at the National Festival of Art and Culture, set to take place in Techiman in October 2024.

Head of Culture at the AMA, Mrs. Roberta R. Appiah, expressed her pride in the performance of the Adesa Taloi Troupe.

“This victory is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our performers. We are excited to represent the region at the national level and showcase the vibrancy of Accra’s culture,” she said.

The REFAC '24 event included art exhibitions from over 30 local artists, showcasing a range of traditional crafts and contemporary art forms, including paintings, sculptures, textiles, and photography. Attendees also enjoyed performances by various dance troupes and musicians, along with workshops on traditional craft-making, drumming, and storytelling.

Mrs. Appiah noted that the festival played a crucial role in promoting unity among the MMDAs, fostering community engagement, and enhancing cultural tourism in the region.

"Events like this not only celebrate our artistic heritage but also provide a platform for local artists and artisans to gain exposure. It’s a great opportunity to support local businesses and showcase the diversity of our culture," she added.

The festival, which featured food and craft stalls, allowed attendees to experience the culinary and artisanal diversity of the Greater Accra Region, boosting the local economy through the support of small businesses and artisans.
