The meeting brought together Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, and key stakeholders to assess progress made and outline priorities for the year ahead.

In his address, the Mayor of Kumasi, Hon. Richard Kwasi Ofori Boadi Agyemang, presented a detailed Metropolitan Authority Report. The report highlighted significant developments in finance and administration, school sanitation, and revenue performance.

The Mayor also provided updates on proposed works at the Sokoban Wood Village, as well as the steady progress of ongoing market projects at Santasi, Asafo, and Sepe Aprampram—initiatives aimed at enhancing trading conditions and stimulating local economic growth.

The address further covered critical social and governance matters, including the training of Metro Guards, transport, education and low school enrollment, sports development, waste management, public-private partnerships (PPPs), security, and overall governance within the metropolis.

These issues generated constructive deliberations, enabling Members to share perspectives, raise concerns, and propose practical solutions to challenges confronting the city.

A key outcome of the meeting was the General Assembly’s resolution to ban the open display of salt within the metropolis. This decision forms part of a broader public health strategy to reduce hypertension and promote healthier dietary practices among residents, underscoring KMA’s commitment to preventive healthcare and public well-being.

Overall, the meeting reaffirmed the Assembly’s collective commitment to accountability, development, and inclusive governance. As Kumasi continues its pursuit of sustainable growth, the resolutions and discussions from this session reflect a shared determination to protect lives, strengthen institutions, and build a healthier, safer, and more prosperous metropolis for all.

The General Assembly was presided over by Hon. Patrick Kwame Frimpong.
