Ali Haruna, who was nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, polled 13 votes out of 19, representing 68.4 percent in a one-round voting process.
Mr Stephen Yakubu, the Upper East Regional Minister, who witnessed the process, said Garu was a promising District which needed infrastructural support, and said the Gulf of Guinea Northern Regions Social Cohesion (SOCO) project would fast-track the development agenda in the area.
He urged Assembly Members to offer him the needed support to continue from where his predecessor left off, as governance was a continuation process.
The Minister said the appointee was hardworking, and expressed confidence that the newly appointed DCE would work and collaborate effectively with the Assembly members to propel the needed development.
Mr Haruna in his address, expressed gratitude to the Assembly Members for the endorsement, and pledged to work closely with them to attract the needed development to the District.
“Today is memorable for all of us because we have chosen unity of purpose over partisanship and sectional interest. The endorsement of my nomination demonstrates the prospects for deeper collaboration and cooperation for Garu's brighter future,” he noted.
