The intervention forms part of efforts by the Assembly to empower persons with disabilities to become economically independent and improve their living conditions. The items distributed included deep freezers, fufu pounding machines, wheelchairs, wall tiling machines, sliding door fabrication machines and cassava processing machines.
Some beneficiaries also received financial assistance to support business development, education and medical needs, while needy but brilliant students benefited from assistance with the payment of school fees.
Speaking to the media after the presentation, the District Chief Executive for the area, Mr Alexander Adu Quist, urged beneficiaries to use the equipment and financial support for their intended purposes to improve their livelihoods. He said the Assembly had increased its allocation to the Disability Fund and assured persons with disabilities of its continued commitment to supporting their development under the government's resetting agenda.
Mr Adu Quist noted that the intervention was intended to help beneficiaries realise their potential and participate meaningfully in the economic and social development of the district.
The Juaboso District Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Mr Lawrence Amofa, advised beneficiaries to adhere to the orientation provided and make effective use of the items received.
He emphasised that the proper use and maintenance of the equipment would help sustain the programme and create opportunities for other persons with disabilities to benefit from similar interventions in the future.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Government and the Assembly for the support, pledging to use the items and financial assistance effectively to improve their livelihoods.
The initiative highlights the importance of providing targeted support to persons with disabilities to strengthen their participation in economic activities and improve access to education and healthcare. Through the provision of livelihood equipment, financial assistance and educational support, the Assembly aims to address some of the challenges confronting vulnerable residents and promote inclusive development across the Juaboso District.
The intervention is expected to help beneficiaries strengthen their businesses, develop employable skills and improve their socio economic well being.
