Kwahu Afram Plains North Commissions Nine Major Development Projects in One Day

The Kwahu Afram Plains North District in the Eastern Region has witnessed a major development boost following the commissioning and handover of nine key projects across the district.

The projects were commissioned on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in a ceremony led by the District Chief Executive (DCE)for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Kate Mawusi Babanawo, together with the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey.

The projects include an Amankwa-Tornu two-unit Kindergarten block, a CHPS Compound with nurses’ accommodation at Kpala, and a three-unit Junior High School classroom block at Agordeke-Zikpo.

Also commissioned were the Adeemmra Cattle Market Stopover, an Accident and Emergency Centre at the Donkorkrom Presbyterian Hospital, an NHIS Fibre Boat, and a six-unit classroom block at Avukope.

The Donkorkrom Presbyterian School KG block and a CHPS Compound at Dwarf Island-Battor Kope were also handed over to the communities.

The interventions cover key sectors including education, healthcare, transportation and local economic development, with the aim of improving access to essential services and creating better living conditions for residents.

The DCE said the projects represent more than physical infrastructure, describing them as investments in opportunity and improved livelihoods for communities across the district.

DCE Kate Mawusi Babanawo expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama, the Eastern Regional Minister, traditional authorities, Assembly Members, contractors, development partners and other stakeholders for their contributions towards the completion of the projects.

She said the Assembly remains committed to implementing development projects that directly respond to the needs of residents and contribute to the socio-economic transformation of Kwahu Afram Plains North.

The commissioning of the nine projects marks a significant milestone in the district’s development efforts, with the Assembly pledging to sustain the momentum and pursue further interventions for its communities.
