The initiative, the first of its kind in the area, aims to provide financial support to young people to enable them pursue tertiary education without financial stress.

Dr. Asamoah, in a speech at the launch which coincided with Ghana’s 69th Independence Day celebration, said: “We are not only celebrating today, but also preparing our youth for the future.”

He added that development did not start from Accra or the bigger towns but from the polling stations, electoral areas, and other smaller communities.

The MP noted that most Ghanaian youth had great potential to develop and transform their lives and positively impact society, adding that the solutions to the nation’s socio-economic challenges lay with the people at the community level.

Dr. Asamoah indicated that in the next 10 to 20 years, many young people in the constituency might have attained higher academic and career qualifications, enabling them to compete favourably in both local and international job markets and contribute positively to their communities, the nation, and the world at large.

He explained that under the ASAP, each prospective tertiary student from the constituency would receive a minimum of GH¢2,000 in financial assistance annually.

The launch, which climaxed a day’s Youth Forum, saw the MP leading participants to discuss key thematic areas of youth development, including youth challenges and opportunities; skills development and entrepreneurship; agriculture as a business for the youth; youth participation in governance; and youth innovation challenges.

The forum attracted many young people from various communities in the constituency and was attended by several dignitaries, including Messrs Charles Abugri; Martin Addo Fordjour; Mogman Johnson, Presiding Member of the Offinso North District Assembly; the Offinso North District Director of Education; and the Offinso North Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
