New Juaben South MCE Joins Dignitaries at 2026 Ohum Festival in Kyebi

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye, has joined government officials, traditional leaders, and other distinguished guests at the 2026 Ohum Festival held in Kyebi in the Eastern Region.

The colourful annual celebration brought together several high-profile personalities, including the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah; the Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim; the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketia; Ofosu Ampofo; and Marietta Brew, among other invited guests.

The Ohum Festival, celebrated annually by the Akyem people, highlighted the rich cultural heritage, customs, and traditions of the area through traditional rites, music, dance, and other cultural displays.

Speaking after the event, Mr. Owusu Boakye noted that the festival underscored the importance of preserving Ghana's cultural heritage while promoting unity, peace, and social cohesion among communities.

He further stated that traditional festivals such as Ohum continue to play a vital role in strengthening community identity and fostering national development by bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to celebrate their shared history and values.
