President Mahama revokes appointment of MMDCEs

President John Dramani Mahama, in accordance with the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) as amended by the Local Governance (Amendment) Act, 2017, (Act 940), has revoked the appointments of all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

The President has also revoked the appointment of Assembly Members appointed pursuant to the relevant sections of the Act.

President Mahama, in the interim, has directed respective Coordinating Directors of the various MMDAs to act as Chief Executives until substantive appointments are duly made.
