Regional Minister Applauds Gushegu Assembly for Promoting Transparent Governance

The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, has praised the Gushegu Municipal Assembly for demonstrating transparency and accountability through the organization of a Town Hall Meeting aimed at updating residents on development projects, policy interventions and the Assembly's performance since 2025.

The engagement, held on June 18, 2026, brought together traditional authorities, Assembly Members, heads of departments, development partners, youth groups, religious leaders and residents to review the municipality's development progress and discuss future priorities.

Addressing participants, the Regional Minister described the meeting as a vital platform for strengthening local governance and promoting citizen participation in decision-making processes.

According to him, accountable governance flourishes when public officials regularly engage citizens and provide updates on how public resources are being utilized to improve livelihoods and communities.

Hon. Ali Adolf John commended the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Hafiz Adam, for creating an avenue that allows residents to directly interact with local authorities, seek clarification on development projects and contribute ideas towards the municipality's growth.

He noted that such engagements help build trust between government and citizens, encourage community ownership of projects and foster collective responsibility for development.

The Minister also urged residents to actively participate in local governance processes by attending public forums, monitoring projects and providing constructive feedback to the Assembly.

The Town Hall Meeting ended with an interactive session during which residents raised concerns, sought answers on ongoing projects and proposed development priorities for consideration by the Assembly.

Participants described the exercise as a significant step towards strengthening citizen-government relations and promoting inclusive development in the Gushegu Municipality.
