The project, which is expected to provide modern and conducive classrooms for pupils, forms part of the Speaker’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure in the area.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bagbin said the construction of the eight-unit classroom block was intended to enhance teaching and learning at the school.

“Today, we cut sod for the commencement of this project. In the spirit of the 24-hour economy, I expect the contractor to work around the clock and at speed to ensure completion before the end of the year,” he stated.

He noted that the completion of the facility would guarantee decent and modern classrooms for pupils, describing it as the least he could do in appreciation of the community’s continuous support and goodwill.

The Speaker also used the occasion to urge stakeholders to prioritise the welfare and future of children.

He observed that children were growing up in an era marked by rapid technological advancement and limitless access to information, which, while beneficial, also posed risks, including environmental degradation and moral decline.

“We must not allow technology to destroy the future of our children, but rather assist them to become better versions of themselves,” he said.

Mr. Bagbin appealed to parents to pay special attention to the needs of their children, describing them as the nation’s most treasured assets, whose future is critical to the country’s sustainability.

He called for unity and collective effort towards the development of the Awudome Traditional Area and the Volta Region at large.

Mr. Frank Komla Dzah, the headmaster of the school, expressed gratitude to the Speaker for the intervention.

He said the existing classrooms were in poor condition, making teaching and learning difficult, particularly in the afternoons and during rainy periods.

Mr. Dzah added that the new classroom block would significantly improve the learning environment and pledged that the school authorities would ensure the facility is properly maintained and put to good use upon completion.
