Akuapem North Elevates Justice Delivery with Commissioning of Ultra-Modern Court Complex

Justice delivery in the Akuapem North Municipal Assembly has received a major boost following the commissioning of a newly constructed court complex at Akropong.

The landmark facility, completed through collaboration between the Assembly, the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council and the Judicial Service of Ghana, was officially unveiled on Tuesday, 17th February 2026 at the forecourt of the building.

The modern one-storey complex features two fully furnished courtrooms, ultramodern washrooms, male and female withholding cells, and several adjoining offices designed to enhance operational efficiency and uphold judicial standards.

The commissioning ceremony was graced by the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, His Lordship Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, alongside the Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, the Municipal Chief Executive John Evans Kumordzi, and Municipal Coordinating Director Alhaji Shamrock Abdulai Gafaru.

Traditional authorities, clergy, Assembly Members, and other dignitaries were also present to witness what many described as a transformational moment for justice administration in the municipality.

The new court complex is expected to significantly improve access to justice, reduce case congestion, and provide a dignified environment for legal proceedings in Akuapem North and surrounding communities.

With this milestone, Akuapem North joins the growing list of municipalities prioritizing modern judicial infrastructure to strengthen rule of law and public confidence in Ghana’s justice system.
