Winners of the Youth in Climate Action Fund receive awards

The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Samuel Pyne has presented awards of various cheques and certificates to the 14 winners of the Youth in Climate Action Fund.

The brief ceremony which was held at the conference room of the Assembly had in attendance Mr. Samuel Pyne, the mayor, Mr. Francis Dwira Darko the Coordinating Director, Mr. Patrick Kwame Crimping the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, Dr. Prince Anokye of KNUST, Heads of Departments, the award winners, staff and the media.

The MCE stated that due diligence was applied in the selection process and the 14 groups selected met the laid down criteria.

He thanked the supporters of the project Bloomberg Philanthropies, Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University for believing in his leadership and initiatives in this climate action fight.

The mayor expressed delight in the enthusiasm of the youth to involve themselves in the campaign against climate change, noting that the impact of climate change has serious repercussions for the future.

Again, Mr. Pyne said, to ensure judicious use of the fund a monitoring team would visit recipients to assess progress, indicating that microgrant payments would be made in tranches upon authorities' satisfaction with work done from now until the end of September 2024.

The winners as announced earlier are Agritradehub, Earth Guardians, Ghana Association of Students Planners/ KNUST Sustainable Green Future Club, PlantO and Dabethon Group.

The rest are, Climate Action Network, Team Sustinere, The Green Guardians of Kumasi, Akwatia Line Scrap Sellers Association, Adoato Executive Club, Center Youth and Literacy Development and Responsibilities Initiative Ghana.
