According to her, the region’s peaceful and stable environment provides a level playing field for businesses to compete, grow and thrive. She therefore urged investors to take advantage of the region’s enormous potential to expand their businesses and contribute to the region’s economic development.

Speaking at the ongoing maiden Eastern Expo, held under the theme, “Unlocking Opportunities for Sustainable Trade, Tourism and Investment,” the Minister said the Eastern Region boasts vast tracts of land, mineral resources and a skilled human resource base capable of supporting large-scale investments.

She further noted that the region has several tourist attractions with significant potential for redevelopment, which could generate substantial returns for investors while creating jobs and boosting local economic activity.
Hon. Awatey added that the Eastern Region offers a conducive business environment, supported by peace and security, making it an attractive destination for investments not only in Ghana but across the West African sub-region.
The Minister expressed excitement over the enthusiasm and patronage recorded at the expo, describing the response as an indication of the growing confidence in the Eastern Region’s potential.

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dzifa Abla Gomashie, commended the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council for organising the maiden Eastern Expo, describing it as an important platform to promote tourism and attract investment to the region.

According to her, the Ministry’s responsibility goes beyond merely identifying tourism assets and resources, adding that It is also committed to developing, packaging, promoting and marketing these assets professionally while ensuring that the communities where they are located actively participate in and directly benefit from their development.
She noted that tourism has evolved beyond the movement of people from one attraction site to another, stressing that the sector now encompasses accommodation, transportation, food and beverages, agriculture, film and music, handicrafts, events, entertainment and heritage.

These interconnected sectors, she said, present significant opportunities to drive economic development, create jobs and generate additional revenue for the state.
Hon. Gomashie further assured that the Ministry remains committed to implementing measures to make Ghana’s tourism sector more attractive to investors and to unlock its full potential as a driver of sustainable economic growth.
