The recognition formed part of efforts by the Society to appreciate individuals and institutions contributing to humanitarian activities and volunteer development within the district.
At a brief ceremony, the team presented the DCE with a branded World Red Cross Day T-shirt and a citation in recognition of her commitment to humanitarian service and the welfare of Red Cross volunteers.
Mr Kingsford Dzrapedo Blamey, the District Organiser of the Akatsi Chapter, who represented the Volta Regional Manager of the Society, commended the DCE for her continuous support for the organisation and its activities.
He said the DCE’s intervention enabled volunteers from South Tongu to participate successfully in the national celebration held under the theme: “United in Humanity.”
“We are here on behalf of the Ghana Red Cross Society, particularly the regional chapter, to express our sincere appreciation for your support and efforts in promoting humanitarian activities in the district,” he stated.
Mr Blamey also appealed to the Assembly to assist the South Tongu Chapter with office accommodation to improve its operations and enhance community outreach programmes.
Receiving the honour, Madam Dzeklo expressed gratitude to the Society for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to supporting humanitarian initiatives in the district.
She acknowledged the critical role played by the Ghana Red Cross Society in community development, disaster response, and volunteerism, and pledged the Assembly’s support towards securing office space for the South Tongu Chapter to strengthen its activities.
