Bolga East Assembly confirms President’s Nominee, elects PM

The Bolgatanga East District Assembly has elected a Presiding Member (PM) and subsequently confirmed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the position of Chief Executive.

The elected PM for the Assembly, Norbert Akoriga Akologo had 100 percent votes from members. The PM's contender in a previous election which ended without an elected PM stepped down in the spirit of unity to pave the way for a smooth process after several consultations.

The Assembly Members later confirmed the President’s nominee, Albert Agana Akugre as Chief Executive for the area with 19 votes out of 24 valid votes cast, representing 79.2 percent. Five members voted against the nominee.

In his address after the endorsement, Mr Akugre, seasoned professional in education said he would work to promote good governance, accountability and transparency in the District, and called for collaboration from all stakeholders to advance development in the District.

“From infrastructure development, provision of healthcare, enhancement of education and economic empowerment, our priorities are manifold and aspirations are higher,” he said.

He said with unity of purpose, resilience and innovation, the District could surmount any obstacle and realize the shared vision of the vibrant and thriving district.
