The support programme, held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Faase Gardens, forms part of the Assembly’s efforts to promote social inclusion, economic empowerment and sustainable livelihoods for Persons with Disabilities in the Municipality.
The programme was attended by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alfred Nii Anyetei; Member of Parliament for the La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah; Municipal Coordinating Director, Siegfried Kwame Addo; Heads of Departments, staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, and other stakeholders.
The 66 beneficiaries comprised 33 males and 33 females.
Out of the total beneficiaries, 50 received cash support amounting to GH¢227,347, while 16 beneficiaries received livelihood items valued at GH¢125,760.
The support was provided based on the assessed needs of the beneficiaries to enable them to establish or expand income-generating activities and improve their livelihoods.
Items distributed included nine freezers, a display fridge, a laptop, an overlock sewing machine, two knitting machines, a set of ovens and an electric motor for a grinding machine.
The items are expected to support beneficiaries engaged in various businesses, including trading, food and beverage production, tailoring and dressmaking, knitting, baking and other small-scale enterprises.
Officials at the programme urged the beneficiaries to use the cash and items responsibly and for their intended purposes. They were also encouraged to properly maintain the equipment to ensure that the support provides sustainable income and improves their financial independence.
The beneficiaries were further advised to maintain contact with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development for guidance, monitoring and further support.
The intervention, according to the Assembly, demonstrates its commitment to inclusive development, social protection and the economic empowerment of Persons with Disabilities within the La Dade-Kotopon Municipality.
