The engagement formed part of efforts to promote citizens’ participation in accountability and transparency as part of measures to strengthen Ghana’s democratic governance.

Addressing the students, Mr. Awudu Dramani Sam, the Western North Regional Director of the NCCE, urged them to become the first line of defence against corruption by upholding the rule of law in their schools and communities.

He explained that Article 35(8) of the 1992 Constitution mandates the state to eradicate corrupt practices and encouraged students to use existing institutions such as the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to report misconduct within their communities.

Mr. Sam further emphasised the need for young people to demonstrate integrity, honesty, and accountability in their daily activities to help build a corruption-free society.

Mr. Richard Zula, a tutor at the school, commended the NCCE for organising the programme.

He noted that lessons on integrity and accountability must extend beyond the classroom if Ghana is to achieve meaningful national development.
