The purpose of the meeting was to provide security and maintain peace and order during the upcoming voter registration exercise.

The Ahafo Regional commander of police, DCOP Enerst Owusu, who chaired the function, said he knows that parts of the region have gained notoriety on issues bothering on elections and as a new person in charge of a new region, will not supervise such acts of violence.

He on that note urged all the political parties present to advise their followers to refrain from acts that will create difficulties for the EC in the compilation of the register.

The regional electoral officer outlined the plans of the EC to members and encouraged the political parties to seek clarity from them when they are in doubt.

Two major issues that came up as a cause of the violence were the transfer of votes by non-residents and, busing of people from one constituency to the other for registration.

Members present were, chiefs, district police commanders, the military, immigration officers, information, NCCE, media, Christian council chief imam, and the political parties.
