Ahafo Region holds 2023 regional budget review session.

The Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) has organized a regional composite budget review session at the RCC conference hall in Goaso.

The two day programme brought together the six Municipal and District Assemblies (MDAs) in the region, namely Asunafo North, Tano North, Tano South Municipals and Asutifi North, Asutifi South and Asunafo South District Assemblies.

The budget hearing is to afford the MDAs the opportunity to showcase their development plans and measure the progress they have made in terms of its Internally Generated Funds, how they have been utilised to develop their areas and the region at large.

The programme also helped the MDAs to account for how external funds received by the government and donor agencies were also utilised.

In his welcome address, Ahafom Regional Minister, George Boakye commended the MDAs for their efforts in initiating and implementing programmes and projects to improve the living conditions of the citizenery

He therefore appealed to the assemblies to see the exercise as an opportunity to share experiences for sustainable national development.

Hon. Boakye pledged the ARCC readiness to support and partner them to implement the government's developmental agenda.

In attendance were the Regional Coordinating Director, Mr. Sampson Amoako Kwarteng, Heads of Department, Chiefs, Heads of various Committees, Assemblymembers, and key stakeholders.

A member of the national team leader, Mr. Jonathan Azaasu, for his part, highlighted the importance of the exercise as constitutionally sanctioned and warned that no MDA will be spared if they fail to meet the requirements.

He tasked them to do due diligence and make the necessary changes and amendments to ensure there's value for money in the execution of programmes and projects.

A panel team and participant's reviewed and scrutinized the budgets of the MDAs and made suggestions and recommendations to enable them to tune their documents.
