He says the assembly cannot execute most of its projects and undertake some activities due to low revenue mobilization and has gone a long way to impede development.
He disclosed this, when speaking at the Assembly’s second ordinary meeting which was held at the Assembly Hall.
The DCE noted that, he has done constantly engaged residents on the essence of paying taxes to ensure development of the District.
He again disclosed that that, the Assembly had since been issuing demand notices to defaulters especially on property rates and business operating permits, and had warned that legal action would be taken against tax defaulters.
He added that plans were further advanced to reconstitute the zonal councils who would be trained them as part of strategies to strengthen the sub-structures in the collection of revenue.
He was optimistic that the 2021 Population and Housing Census would enable the Assembly properly identify businesses and property owners in the area.
According to him, this would help increase revenue mobilization for effective planning and development.
“Let me use this opportunity to appeal to you, the Assembly members to support management in this regard so that we can mobilize the needed revenue to develop the District”, he added.
