Seth Serwornoo-Banini set to be confirmed MCE

Except for any last minute changes, the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly in the Central Region is expected to confirm its municipal chief executive nominee, Seth Sabah Serwornoo-Banini on Wednesday 16th April, 2025.

The confirmation is subsequent to his appointment by John Dramani Mahama last week.

Seth Sabah Serwornoo-Banini’s name was included in the second batch of names of Municipal Chief Executive Nominees that were appointed by the President to lead government business at the local level.

A portion of a statement signed and issued by Callistus Mahama, secretary to the President read: “President John Dramani Mahama in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 constitution and 20 (1) of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) has nominated the

Second batch of persons to serve in various capacities as Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives.”

Their appointment is however, subject to the approval of their respective Assemblies.

Meanwhile, speaking in an interview with Ghanadidstricts.com, Presiding Member of the Assembly, Jones Darko Kwarteng, thanked the president for the appointment and expressed confidence that the nominee would be given the two-thirds majority to enable him carry out his constitutional mandate.

He admonished members to eschew partisan politics when it comes to assembly businesses while calling for unity among them in order to achieve a common goal.

He charged the nominee to lead an exemplary life and also run an open-door policy when finally gets the nod to lead the assembly.
Touching on security measures ahead of the exercise, the PM noted security agencies in the municipality are on red alert to ensure that the process is conducted in a peaceful and serene environment.
