The donation, which took place on Thursday, includes 170 dual desks, 20 teachers’ tables, and a file drawer cabinet. The items are intended for onward distribution to basic schools across the district identified as being in urgent need of such resources.

The handover ceremony emphasized the assembly’s ongoing commitment to improving educational infrastructure. In a statement, DCE Kwasi Amankwaa said the intervention is “part of our continuous commitment to improving teaching and learning conditions across the district.”

“By providing adequate furniture and office support, we aim to create a more conducive environment for both pupils and teachers, while strengthening effective school administration,” Amankwaa added.

The Sekyere Kumawu Education Directorate will oversee the distribution process to ensure the furniture reaches the schools most in need. Many basic schools in the district have long grappled with shortages of essential furniture, affecting pupil comfort and concentration during lessons.

The District Assembly reiterated its dedication to the educational sector, stating, “The Sekyere Kumawu District Assembly remains dedicated to supporting education and ensuring equitable access to quality learning facilities for all our children.”

Local education officials and headteachers have welcomed the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that will directly impact classroom functionality and administrative efficiency.

Residents and education advocates are hopeful that such initiatives will continue, addressing other resource gaps to foster improved academic outcomes in the district.
