The historic event marked the beginning of a renewed journey of progress, unity, and shared responsibility.
The ceremony was chaired by Okoforobour Dr. Yaw Agyei II, the Omanhene of the Mim Traditional Area, with Nana Dr. Adusei Atwenewa Ampem I, the Omanhene of the Tepa Traditional Area, serving as the Special Guest of Honour.
The event was highly patronised by dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Tano South, Hon. Charles Asiedu; the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Abdul Rahman Salam; government officials; traditional leaders; representatives of the security agencies; and members of the Bechem community and neighbouring towns, all of whom gathered to witness the historic occasion.
In his welcome address, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Kwame Frimpong, congratulated Nana Asiwobour Osei Bonsu III on his enstoolment as the Paramount Chief of the Bechem Traditional Area and welcomed guests to the ceremony.
He emphasised that the primary goal of the leadership was to bring tangible progress and growth to the people and called for absolute unity. He asserted that without a united front, Bechem could not achieve the development it desired, stressing that unity is the key driver of meaningful advancement within any community.
Hon. Frimpong reaffirmed his commitment to the Traditional Council and noted that the government would continue to support and work closely with the Council to drive development in the area.
He outlined major initiatives, including the establishment of a Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) office and the construction of a modern poultry, meat, and feed processing factory aimed at revitalising the local economy and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
He also announced plans for the establishment of a cashew processing factory in Bechem, which is expected to generate significant employment opportunities for the younger generation. Additionally, he revealed that advanced plans were underway to establish a ginger processing factory in the Dwomo area and urged local farmers to begin cultivating ginger immediately to ensure a steady supply of raw materials once the factory becomes operational.
Hon. Frimpong appealed to all residents to support the new Paramount Chief to ensure that Bechem thrives under this new chapter of leadership.
Delivering the keynote address, Nana Asiwobour Osei Bonsu III expressed profound appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, for the trust reposed in him. He pledged his loyalty to the Golden Stool and committed himself to serving Asanteman faithfully. He also extended gratitude to the Queen Mother of Bechem, Nana Adwoapo Dwamena Serwaa II, as well as the kingmakers and the people of Bechem for the confidence they had placed in his leadership.
Nana Osei Bonsu III declared that his foremost priority was unity, stating that the progress and prosperity of Bechem depended on families, the youth, and the diaspora rallying behind a common vision. He emphasised the strengthening of "Atafo" unity, describing it as the preservation of the unbreakable bond among Bechem, Dwomo, Terchire, and Tanoso.
He called on entrepreneurs and members of the diaspora to partner with the community to create jobs, highlighting the fertility of the land and the hardworking nature of the people as valuable assets for development.
He further noted that his leadership agenda for the Bechem Traditional Area would focus on education, youth empowerment, improved healthcare, and the revitalisation of local culture through the rebranding of the Adekyem Festival. Key infrastructure priorities include establishing a modern Secretariat for the Traditional Council, constructing a modern palace, and advocating for the establishment of a Health College in Bechem with specialised programmes.
Addressing the youth directly, Nana Osei Bonsu III pledged to lead with their future at heart and urged them to support him in transforming the town.
In her closing remarks, the Queen Mother of the Bechem Traditional Area, Nana Adwoapo Dwamena Serwaa II, expressed profound gratitude for the successful ceremony and the support extended to her. She called for unity, stressing that it is not only a cherished cultural value but also a practical necessity for achieving the town's ambitious development goals.
Appealing to both royals and citizens to set aside their grievances, she underscored the need to proactively address internal divisions that could hinder the progress of the Traditional Council.
Nana Adwoapo Dwamena Serwaa II further linked the success of the new leadership to efforts aimed at improving the local economy, creating opportunities for the youth to thrive in Bechem, and addressing unemployment. She called on both the youth and elders to work together, positioning the Bechem Traditional Council as a catalyst for a brighter and more prosperous future.
