GIFEC Commissions ICT Centre in Suhum
Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digitalization has commissioned an ultra-modern community Information Communication Technology ICT Centre in Suhum Municipality.

The Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful expressed gratitude for the completion of the community ICT Centre. She recounted how the former Member of Parliament Opare-Ansah continued to pressure GIFEC in request for the completion of the facility.
She indicated that the ministry will collaborate with the Ghana Library Authority to provide books for the center. Nine (9) member sustainability management committees were sworn in to ensure adequate and proper management of the facility.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong expressed his excitement for the commission of the community ICT centre, his joy comes from the fact that the long awaited project that was commenced 16 years ago has been completed. He added that he was part of the sod cutting under the former President Kuffuor's administration and he is also part of the commissioning.
The Administrator (CEO) GIFEC, Mr. Ofosu Sefa mentioned that, Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications is an agency under Ministry of Communication and Digitalization which is mandated to ensure rural telephony, building cyber labs in schools and communities and ensuring capacity building of the citizens. He commended the contractor for the good work done.
He also assured them of monitoring the ICT centre to ensure that it is serving its purpose.The Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs. Margaret Darko Darkwa expressed her sincere gratitude to the Minister of Communication and Digitalization Mrs. Ursula Owusu Ekuful and GIFEC for the completion of the community ICT centre.
She also acknowledged the dedication of the local community members who showed their commitment by embracing the projects and making it a reality. She stated that the community ICT centre will help the citizens to gain equal opportunity to advance in technology.
The Member of Parliament, Kwajo Asante thanked the President, the vice president and the Minister of Communication and Digitalization for making this possible.
He said that the community ICT centre will serve as a theatre for teachers for further research and the general public. He advised the community members to see the ICT center as their own property.
