The sod-cutting ceremony, held at the Agape electoral area, reaffirmed government’s commitment to inclusive development, with beneficiary areas including Ablekuma-Fanmilk-Abease, Olebu, Santa Maria-Antie Aku, Israel-Lomnava, Kwashiebu, Anyaa East & West, Agape Pentecost, and Sowutuom.

In his opening remarks, the Municipal Education Director, Mr. Ibrahim Mumuni, applauded government’s investment in educational infrastructure, describing it as a strategic investment in human capital development and a reaffirmation of education as a fundamental right.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, joined by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. John Owusu Koranteng, heads of departments, assembly members, traditional leaders, and residents, performed the sod-cutting to officially commence the projects.

Key projects include:

Construction of an 18-unit classroom block complex at Ablekuma Agape

A six-unit classroom block at Antie Aku

A four-storey office annex at Sowutuom-Antie Aku for Ga Central

An astroturf pitch at Israel Park

Completion of a three-storey health facility at Ablekuma Abease

Fence/retaining wall, security post, and reclamation of low land

A 2.5m x 1.5m storm drain at Mambo-Sowutuom

Seven mechanized boreholes across Olebu, Kwashiebu, Lomnava, Agape Pentecost, Antie Aku, Anyaa West, and Ablekuma Fanmilk

Contracts for the water projects are expected to be completed within three months, while building projects will take between six to twelve months, with assurances of quality delivery.

Hon. Allotey emphasized that the sod-cutting symbolized not just construction, but a renewal of hope for residents, directly addressing needs expressed during community engagements and town hall meetings. He charged contractors to work with professionalism and integrity, while engaging the youth to create job opportunities.

The MCE further urged residents to cultivate a culture of maintenance to ensure sustainability of the projects. He attributed the initiative to the ‘Resetting Ghana’ agenda led by the John Mahama administration, which prioritizes investments in education, healthcare, water, sanitation, and road infrastructure.

Traditional leaders and residents expressed excitement, describing the projects as timely, impactful, and transformative, with the potential to enhance livelihoods and boost economic activity across the municipality.
