North Dayi observes ‘My first day’ at school initiative

The North Dayi District Assembly, in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, observed 'My First Day at School' initiative at Awate Tornu D/A Basic School.

This initiative which is an annual event is used to welcome first-time kindergarten learners, and Basic One learners to the mainstream school system.

 

District Chief Executive, Kudjo Attah, encouraged parents to provide necessary school items and cautioned against child labour, which hinders education and development of children. He entreated parents to always encourage their wards to attend school regularly and exhibit good character.

 

Mr.Attah continued by commending teachers for their dedication and contribution to education in the district. He encouraged them to continue their hard work and serve as good role models to learners.

 

Following his speech, the DCE presented educational materials to motivate learners. The team from Ghana Education Service, along with the District Chief Executive and his entourage, visited various schools in the district to distribute learning materials to first-time learners. Both teachers and learners were encouraged to work hard to ensure educational excellence in the district.

 

The New Education Director, Mr. John Yao Agbeko Adzah, expressed excitement about joining the district and participating in the event. He commended the attendance of both parents and teachers and encouraged teachers to continue their hard work and dedication. He also urged learners to study diligently to become prominent individuals in the future.

 

The Chief Inspector of Schools, Madam Linda Dagbe, indicated that the initiative aims to encourage new learners to stay in school as they transition from family environments to educational environments. Same activity was replicated in Vakpo R.C and E.P Basic Schools.
