The inspection formed part of his routine monitoring visits to assess the progress of government-funded projects and ensure that contractors adhered to the required specifications.
The projects inspected included the 24-hour economy market at Sefwi-Asawinso, a maternity block at Wiawso, the Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at Essasakrom-Kojina and Keteboy, a kindergarten block at Kwasiadekrom, a six-unit classroom block at Nyamenakrom and a three-unit classroom block at Pewodea.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, Mr Brentum commended the contractors and the Wiawso Municipal Assembly, led by Municipal Chief Executive Mr Dominic Gyasi, for the progress made on the projects. He urged other Municipal and District Assemblies in the region to prioritise proper supervision and ensure that public funds were used effectively to deliver quality infrastructure for residents.
The Regional Minister also emphasised the importance of providing accommodation for teachers, urging Municipal and District Chief Executives to incorporate teachers' housing into their development plans.
He further announced that the government, through the District Assemblies Common Fund, would soon introduce the Teacher Dabre Programme to support teachers. For his part, Mr Gyasi expressed satisfaction with the progress of work and said the Assembly was engaging the Electricity Company of Ghana to extend electricity to the project facilities before they were handed over to the beneficiary communities.
The inspection is expected to strengthen project monitoring and accountability while helping to ensure that completed facilities provide the intended educational, healthcare and economic benefits to residents of the municipality.
