The ambitious road project, which spans 13 towns and communities, is expected to significantly improve connectivity, facilitate the movement of goods and services, and stimulate economic activities across the district.
Construction works, being executed by Messrs Mo & Mo Company Ltd, commenced in December 2025 and are scheduled for completion in November 2027.
According to project officials, physical progress has reached 73 per cent, with works advancing steadily towards completion.
The rehabilitation project covers three major enclaves within the district.
In the Essiam Enclave (20.5km), roads linking Essiam–Bisease, Essiam Township, and Denkyira are being rehabilitated to improve accessibility and ease transportation challenges.
The Ajumako Enclave (26.8km) is benefiting from the rehabilitation of roads connecting Mando–Kromaim, Assasan–Essaman, Abrofoa–Ampia–Attakrom, Assasan, and Ajumako, providing improved access to communities and markets.
Similarly, the Abaasa Enclave (34km) includes the rehabilitation of roads linking Nsawadze–Onyaadze, Abaasa–Nkodwo, Abaasa Township, Abaasa–Enyamaim, and Enyamaim, enhancing mobility and opening up rural communities for economic growth.
The road rehabilitation project forms part of the Government's broader commitment to investing in strategic infrastructure that promotes inclusive development, facilitates trade, and improves access to essential services.
When completed, the upgraded roads are expected to reduce travel time, lower vehicle operating costs, improve road safety, and boost commercial and agricultural activities throughout the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District.
The Big Push Programme remains a flagship national initiative designed to accelerate Ghana's socio-economic transformation through massive investment in critical infrastructure, particularly road networks that connect communities and unlock economic opportunities.
