Board of Ahafo regional lands commission inaugurated

The Governing Board of the Ahafo Regional Lands Commission has been inaugurated at the Regional Coordinating Council in Goaso.

The Ahafo Regional Minister, George Boakye in his opening address welcomed and congratulated the members of the board.

He charged the board to execute their mandate in a way that will be beneficial to the development of the Ahafo Region and Ghana as a whole.

His Honour Mr. Charles Kwasi Acheampong, Presiding Judge of the Goaso Circuit Court administered the oath of office to the 13 member board at the ceremony.

Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio in his inaugural address also congratulated the members of the board.


He advised the board to bring their individual expertise together in order to deal with issues that affect land administration in the Ahafo Region.

He recounted several challenges that face land development as a global phenomenon and stated that; encroachment on government vested lands, galamsey, double sale of same piece, improper documentation among others as some of the key issues that negatively affect land development in the country.

The Deputy Minister commended President Akufo-Addo for passing into law, the latest lands act 2020 (act 1036) coupled with the act 2008 which will make land administration in the country successful and therefore urged the Ahafo Regional Board for the lands commission to all times act in accordance with the latest act which provides their mandate.

The Governing Board for the Ahafo Regional Lands Commission drawn from the various MDAs and other stakeholder institutions will be Chaired by Lawyer Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei.
