The intervention followed the breakdown of the community’s transformer on July 19, resulting in a prolonged power outage that disrupted domestic activities, businesses and other essential services.

Following appeals from residents, Mr Kuyon facilitated the sourcing of a replacement transformer from Tamale and arranged for its transportation to Zongo Macheri for installation.

The MP also personally facilitated the process and bore the cost of transporting and installing the transformer as part of efforts to ensure the prompt restoration of electricity to the affected community.

Madam Rebecca Nayo, a provision seller, and other residents said the power outage had placed considerable strain on households and businesses, particularly those whose livelihoods depended on electricity.

They expressed appreciation to Mr Kuyon for responding promptly to their concerns and taking steps to address the challenge.

The residents said the intervention would help restore normal economic and social activities in the community and ease the difficulties associated with the prolonged power outage.

They, however, appealed for continued attention to electricity infrastructure in the area to minimise frequent disruptions and ensure a reliable power supply to households and businesses.

Mr Kuyon’s intervention forms part of efforts to address basic infrastructure needs within the Krachi Nchumuru Constituency and improve residents’ access to essential services.

The replacement of the transformer is expected to restore electricity supply to Zongo Macheri and enable residents and businesses to resume their normal activities.

The development also highlights the importance of collaboration among community members, local authorities and elected representatives in addressing urgent infrastructure challenges at the grassroots level.
