The project, which is expected to officially kick-start in April 2025 and targets all 276 constituencies in the country, seeks to use entertainment and football to champion access to quality drinking water across the country especially in the rural communities.

Each constituency is to receive at least 5 mechanized boreholes to improve water supply.

Speaking at the launch, founder of the kick4street foundation, Charles Adu Asinor said the project will seek support from the central government, corporate bodies, non-governmental organizations and philanthropists to help raise funds to finance the borehole project.

He added that activities such as football matches with some top class footballers like Didier Drogba, Ronaldinho, Eden Hazard, Augustine Ahinful and Samuel Osei Kufour will be featured in various parts of the country to help raise funds to support the project.

He therefore urged assembly members to take advantage of the project by reaching out to leadership of the foundation in order to benefit from the project.

Nii Ahene Nunoo III, Paramount Chief of Abola Traditional Area, who represented the Ga Mantse and President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, His Majesty Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, pledged their support and all hands on deck to make the project a reality.

He called for national dialogue and civic education to end illegal mining popularly known as galamsey which is having dire effects on our water bodies.

He proposed hefty jail terms for people who are caught engaging in galamsey to serve as a deterrent to others.

Augustine Ahinful, ex black star player and philanthropist threw more light on the need for government, corporate bodies and non-governmental organizations to champion access to quality drinking water especially in deprived communities.

He lauded the kick4street foundation for the initiative, announcing his full support for the project.
