The site handover ceremony brought together Assembly officials, traditional leaders, traders, community members, and other stakeholders who gathered to witness the start of the long-awaited market development.
During the event, the project consultant, Fedems Constructions Ltd, and the contractor, Ban Newt Company Ltd, were formally introduced. The contractor is expected to complete the project within 18 to 24 months.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Umar Ahmed Tutu, stated that the project aligns with the government's 24-hour economy agenda and is intended to provide a modern and conducive environment for business activities. He noted that the market would not only stimulate commercial activities but also create employment opportunities for residents..jpg)
The proposed market will feature more than 150 shops and over 70 market stalls. It will also include essential facilities such as a CHPS compound, police post, fire post, daycare centre, women’s development bank, and environmental health office to enhance safety, convenience, and service delivery for traders and visitors.
Hon. Tutu assured traders and businesses that may be affected during the construction phase that they would receive priority in the allocation of shops and stalls once the project is completed, before any remaining spaces are made available to other interested applicants.
Representatives of Ban Newt Company Ltd pledged to deliver a high-quality and durable facility within the agreed timeframe.
Stakeholders at the ceremony expressed optimism about the project, describing it as a significant milestone that will drive economic transformation, improve trading conditions, and accelerate development in the Denkyembour District.
