The intervention follows concerns over the growing trading activities around the busy interchange, where the presence of traders and temporary structures could obstruct the free movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Michael Mensah, said the exercise was necessary to protect public spaces and ensure the smooth flow of traffic, particularly at the Tetteh Quashie Roundabout, which serves as an important transport corridor.

He added that the intervention formed part of broader measures by the Assembly to keep Ayawaso West clean, safe and orderly while ensuring that public spaces were used for their intended purposes.

According to the MCE, the unauthorised trading activities also had the potential to create sanitation challenges and compromise the general cleanliness of the area.

He therefore urged traders operating at the location to desist from unauthorised trading and comply with directives from the municipal authorities.

The Assembly also called on residents and other stakeholders to cooperate with the authorities as it works to regulate activities in the area and prevent further encroachment on public spaces.

The Assembly is expected to continue monitoring the area to prevent the re-emergence of unauthorised trading activities and other forms of encroachment.

The MCE reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to working with traders, residents and other stakeholders to promote a clean, safe and well-organised municipality.
