Wenchi MCE Supports Girls’ Education as Free Sanitary Pads Initiative Reaches Schools

The Municipal Chief Executive for Wenchi, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, together with the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Jimah Yakubu, has joined the Municipal Director of Education, Madam Mary Adutwum, to present sanitary pads to the Municipal Education Directorate under the Government’s Free Sanitary Pads initiative.

The presentation, which took place this morning, forms part of national efforts to promote menstrual hygiene management, reduce absenteeism among schoolgirls, and ensure equal access to education for all learners.

Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the welfare of girls in school, noting that access to free sanitary pads will help keep girls in class and enhance their confidence and academic performance.

The Municipal Director of Education, Madam Mary Adutwum, expressed appreciation to the Municipal Assembly and the government for the timely support, describing the initiative as a significant intervention that will positively impact the health, dignity, and education of girls across the municipality.

The Free Sanitary Pads initiative is expected to benefit many schoolgirls within the municipality, reinforcing the government’s broader agenda of gender equality, inclusive education, and child welfare.
