The educational programme focused on equipping pupils with accurate information about menstruation, personal hygiene and the importance of creating a supportive environment for girls during their menstrual periods.

The initiative also sought to encourage boys to develop a better understanding of menstruation and contribute to reducing stigma and misconceptions surrounding the natural biological process.

Health and education officials used the engagement to sensitise the pupils on appropriate menstrual hygiene practices and the need for girls to manage their periods safely and confidently.

The collaboration between the STMA and GES forms part of broader efforts to improve the health, wellbeing and educational experience of schoolchildren within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The organisers stressed the need for continued education on menstrual hygiene, particularly in schools, to ensure that girls have the knowledge and support needed to manage menstruation without embarrassment or discrimination. They also encouraged stakeholders, parents and teachers to support menstrual health education and help create school environments where pupils can openly discuss menstrual health issues.

The programme is expected to contribute to improved menstrual hygiene practices among schoolchildren and promote greater understanding between boys and girls.
