LaDMA Extends Support to 66 Persons with Disabilities

The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has provided financial and livelihood support to 66 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) under the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) Disability Fund, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive development and economic empowerment.

The presentation ceremony at Faase Gardens, was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alfred Nii Anyetei, Member of Parliament for La Dade-Kotopon Constituency, Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Municipal Coordinating Director, Siegfried Kwame Addo, as well as heads of departments, staff of the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, and other stakeholders.

Out of the total beneficiaries, 33 were men and 33 women, ensuring equal representation. Fifty beneficiaries received cash support amounting to GH¢227,347.00, while 16 others received livelihood items valued at GH¢125,760.00.

The items distributed included nine freezers, one display fridge, one laptop, one overlock sewing machine, two knitting machines, one set of ovens, and one electric motor for a grinding machine. These assets are expected to support beneficiaries in ventures such as trading, tailoring, knitting, baking, and food businesses, providing sustainable income opportunities.

Officials at the event urged beneficiaries to use the support responsibly, maintain the equipment properly, and ensure the assistance translates into greater financial independence. They were further encouraged to maintain contact with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development for guidance and monitoring.

The initiative highlights LaDMA’s dedication to social protection and empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, equipping them with practical resources to become economically self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of the municipality.
