Wenchi MP and MCE Cut Sod for New 3-Unit Classroom Block at Abotareye

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Wenchi Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Seidu Haruna, together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wenchi, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, has cut sod for the construction of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Abotareye in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region.

The project forms part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and provide pupils in the community with a safe and conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Speaking at a durbar of chiefs and residents of Abotareye during the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Alhaji Seidu Haruna said the project was in fulfilment of a request made by the community during one of his engagements with residents.

He explained that the chiefs and people of Abotareye had identified the need for a school block as one of their priority development needs, leading to the decision to support the construction of the facility.

The MP said the project adds to several educational interventions undertaken to improve education in the Wenchi Municipality. These include scholarship support, provision of school desks and uniforms with bags, ICT laboratories equipped with computers, books, mock examination and BECE packages, among others.

Hon. Seidu Haruna also noted that the project forms part of his broader development interventions in the constituency, including the construction of an eight-seater male and female public toilet facility and other projects funded through his Common Fund.

He expressed appreciation to the chiefs and people of Abotareye for their support and cooperation and pledged to continue initiating development projects that would improve the living standards and welfare of residents.

The Wenchi MCE, Hon. Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, commended the MP for his interventions, noting that his initiatives were helping to complement the development efforts of the Municipal Assembly.

She said the collaboration between the MP and the Assembly was important in addressing infrastructure gaps and improving access to essential services in communities across the municipality.

The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by chiefs, elders, residents, constituency executives and other stakeholders, who expressed support for the project and pledged their cooperation towards its successful completion.
