Beneficiaries received items including chest freezers, ice chests, industrial sewing machines, plastics chairs, fabrics, bags of charcoal and drinks.

Presenting the items, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Zubairu Kassim, noted that the move was in fulfilment of government’s responsibility to support PWDs in the country as stated in the constitution.

According to him, the distribution was part of government’s commitment at making life comfortable for PWDs in the country. He charged beneficiaries to use the items for the intended purposes to better their lives and that of persons who depend on them for their livelihoods.

A Senior Social Development Officer at the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Mr. Sylvester Dadzie, intimated that the office undertook a needs assessment exercise of the PWDs in the communities to determine the specific requirements before procuring the donated items.

He hinted of a continuous monitoring of the items by the office to ensure that the beneficiaries fully utilize them for the intended purpose for onward recommendations to policy makers.

Beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the Assembly and Government with a pledge to commit the items to good use to better their lives.
