Local business operators trained on entrepreneurship

Consultants for National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) have organized an entrepreneurial training for local businesses within the Asutifi North District.

The initiative which forms part of the presidential business support program is to enable new businesses to emerge and give them space to grow by providing integrated national support for start-ups and small businesses.

Among key issues touched on were, why to start a business, identifying a business, creating a business plan, managing a business, how to market a business, how to finance a business and value addition through creativity and innovation.

Mr. Eric Amponsah, Director of Suncity Hub and facilitator of the training explained that their purpose is to build and strengthen small businesses by equipping them with innovative entrepreneurial ideas.



“We are training an average of 100 business owners in all 260 districts across the country. So, our target is to have a least of 26,000 beneficiaries,” he added.

He also encouraged the participants to take advantage of the NEIP’s GHC50 million of 5000 startups in the country by applying with their business plans before the end of June.

Mr. Emmanuel Gator, a businessman into gari processing expressed gratitude to the government for the training.



“Adding innovation to my gari processing and packaging while applying good customer services as I’ve learned here will go in a long way to broaden my market and sales,” he added.

Among businesses run by participants included Agri-business and Agro-processing, hairdressing, fashion designing, furniture works, mineral water production, shops operating, and welding.
