Except for the Western and Eastern Regions that have been rescheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024, all the other regions are actively participating in today’s exercise.
The Special voting exercise is for eligible voters that have been assigned responsibilities related to the main December 7 voting exercise including various security personnel, the election officials, and the media.
The exercise was supposed to be carried out in 328 centres across the country but the recall of ballots in the Western and Eastern Regions, and subsequent rescheduling to Thursday has altered that number for today’s exercise
Meanwhile, out of a total registered voter population of 18,741,159, only 0.007 per cent, thus 131,478 voters are expected to participate in the Special Voting exercise.
Voting commenced at 7:00AM and ends at 5:00 PM.
According to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, counting of the special voting would only be done on December 7 at the Constituency Collation Centres and added to the results from the main elections.
Per the directive from the EC, Presiding Officers at each Constituency Collation Centre will record these results separately on both the Presidential and Parliamentary Election Results Collation Forms before including them in the final tally from all polling stations.
December 7, 2024 remains the date for the General Elections at the 40,975 polling stations across the country.
