The week-long exercise, covered staff of Quaye Nungua R/C, Nungua Ebenezer Methodist, Nungua SDA, St. Augustine Anglican, St. Peter’s, Nungua KroMA and Nungua Presbyterian Basic Schools.
The sensitisation programme focused on raising awareness about HIV prevention, addressing stigma and discrimination, and encouraging voluntary HIV testing through the use of the OraQuick HIV Self-Test Kit.
Participants were educated on the importance of knowing their HIV status as a critical first step towards early diagnosis, timely treatment and sustained viral suppression.
Health professionals also demonstrated the proper use of the OraQuick HIV Self-Test Kit, including how to interpret test results and access post-test counselling, confirmatory testing and treatment where necessary.
The intervention forms part of KroMA’s contribution to Ghana’s national HIV response and supports efforts towards achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 Fast-Track Targets, which seek to end HIV as a public health threat.
The Krowor Municipal Assembly expressed appreciation to the government for the continued provision of free OraQuick HIV Self-Test Kits, noting that the initiative is helping to expand access to confidential HIV testing, promote early diagnosis and strengthen linkage to treatment and care services.
