The negotiations, he added, had not stalled or encountered any unforeseen challenges as reported in a section of the media.

The President stated this when he addressed the nation on Sunday, 30th October 2022, on Ghana's economy.

" I am able to report to you, my fellow Ghanaians that, the negotiations to secure a strong IMF programme, which will support the implementation of our post covid-19 programme for economic growth and additional funding to support the 2023 budget and development programme, are at advanced stages, and are going well", the President said.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo's statement comes as a sharp contrast to popular economist, Kwame Pianim's claims that the negotiations between the IMF and Ghana are not going well.

According to Mr Pianim, the IMF only wants President Akufo-Addo to publicly admit that Ghana's economy is in dire crisis, thus, needs support before they come in.
