Contracts Awarded for Electrification of 20 Communities in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba
Date Created : 7/10/2026 : Story Author : Takora Iddrisu Benjamin/ Ghanadistricts.com
Under the main contract, 12 communities will be connected. They are Dagbu-dariyiri, Bebeyiri, Dagbigu, Gbiniyiri, Jenevuur, Bugaal, Tuonbo, Dinee, Tumokura, Lemiiteykura, Yerikoi, and Kokorme.
Additionally, 8 communities have been awarded under the Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP). These are Soma No. 1 & 2, and Kpongri No. 1 to No. 6. Works under both projects will be carried out concurrently. Contractors have been mobilized, with some already in the constituency for site visits.
The announcement comes after months of anticipation by residents who had expressed concerns over lack of electricity in several communities. The MP, through his office, has appealed to Ward Coordinators, Assembly Members, and community members in the affected areas to welcome the contractors and provide them with the necessary local support and cooperation to ensure speedy completion.
While many residents have welcomed the development as a major step towards improving livelihoods and business in the area, others are urging government and contractors to ensure quality work and timely completion.
The electrification of these communities is expected to boost education, health service delivery, small businesses, and overall economic activity in Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and its surrounding areas.
