The visit, which coincided with the reopening of schools for the new academic semester, took the MCE to Awushie Tetteh M/A Primary and Junior High School, the newly constructed elementary school at Kasoa New Market, Akweley Islamic Basic Primary School and St. Peter's Anglican Basic School at Opeikuma.

The exercise was aimed at welcoming pupils back to school after the break while providing the MCE with an opportunity to engage school authorities, teachers and pupils on issues affecting teaching and learning.During the visits, Hon. Banini inspected ongoing projects and assessed the state of infrastructure and facilities at the various schools. He also interacted with school authorities to identify challenges requiring immediate attention and explore practical solutions to improve the learning environment.

A major observation from the exercise was that most of the schools visited had adequate classroom infrastructure and were not overcrowded beyond the available learning spaces. This, according to observations from the visit, represents a significant improvement in basic school infrastructure within the Kasoa area, where inadequate classroom facilities had previously been a major concern.

The MCE's visit also revealed that the availability of desks and other furniture remained an area requiring attention in some schools.

However, efforts are already underway to address the challenge, with the Assembly distributing desks to schools since last month to improve the conditions under which pupils learn. The ongoing distribution forms part of measures by the municipal authorities to ensure that pupils have access to the basic facilities required for effective teaching and learning. He  continued engagement with schools was important to enable the Assembly to identify challenges early and respond to them before they negatively affected education delivery.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the MCE to encourage pupils to take their studies seriously and make good use of the educational opportunities available to them.

School authorities, in turn, expressed their concerns and shared some of the needs of their respective institutions with the MCE for consideration.

The exercise ended on a positive note, with the MCE expressing his commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to address outstanding challenges and further improve educational infrastructure across the municipality.

The visit forms part of the Assembly's broader efforts to strengthen education delivery and create a conducive environment for pupils and teachers in Awutu Senya East.
