The items, which included bags of maize, gallons of palm oil, canned minerals, among others and undisclosed amount of money, were presented by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mrs. Janet Tulasi Mensah, supported by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr Matthew Tay, at Abokobi.
She expressed gratitude to the traditional authorities in the municipality for their unflinching support for her administration and urged them to unite behind the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on his quest for a second term in office to advance the transformational agenda he is pursuing.
She also appealed to the Chiefs to promote good sanitation practices and help the Assembly to curb uncontrolled development which are "critical causes of flooding and climate change menace".
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ga East Chiefs' Association, the President of the Association and Chief of Abokobi, who is also a Government Appointee in the Assembly, Hon. NII Samuel Adjetey Mohenu, praised the Assembly for the demonstration of concern for the cause of the Ga people.
"The Assembly has over the years showed their support to the Ga people in this municipality by supporting us annually during the homowo festival. This is very commendable thing and I, on behalf of the Ga East Chiefs' Association, commend our Hon. MCE for her efforts in ensuring the celebrations are full of joy and peace", he said.
He also called on the Assembly to hold quarterly meetings with the Ga East Chiefs Association to foster unity and aid in the development of the Municipality.
"Let me use this opportunity to call on the MCE to try as much as possible to hold quarterly meetings with the Ga East Chiefs' Association to be able to discuss matters of development in our communities and to cement our good relationship. There are many development projects the Assembly embarks on and we the Chiefs can be a good link between the Assembly and the community", Nii Abokobi stated.
Further distribution of the items was done by the Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Jesse Nii Noi Anum, on behalf of the Hon. MCE.
